Jeddah - And Then There Was Rain
On the way from Yanbu to Abha, we had a day layover in Jeddah. It all started out great...
A little downtown shopping and tons of driving (everywhere we tried to get the driver to take us to, ended up not being what we wanted. At all. The old outdoor market ended up being a smelly local street in an off alley with very little shopping. The aquarium ended up being a tiny, podunk dirty waterpark):
We ended up nixing the aquarium and outdoor market, and opted for the Jeddah museum instead:
And while we were museuming, it started to rain.
And rain.
And rain.
We had 2 hours to make it to the airport, which was an hour away. Already pushing it in our families terms of airport early arrival standards.
The streets flooded.
Traffic was out of control.
It took us over 2 hours to get to the airport, which should have been 45 minutes away.
We arrived at the airport 5 minutes after out flight was scheduled to leave. We ran through the airport, and they ushered us down to the bus to take us to the plane. We sat on the bus for at least 15 minutes, just chilling, when our flight was scheduled to leave 20 minutes prior.
We made our flight!!! Next step - ABHA!
