Bobbie in Vegas

Dad, Mom and Bobbie drove to California and stopped in Vegas on the way back. Below are text messages between me, Mom, Dad, and then predominantly Bobbie (all on Dad’s cell phone).

Dad: We are 3 hours away from Vegas and will stay 2 nights

Me: Take Bobbie to the Chip and Dale show 

Dad: I’d rather die (from Bob)

Me: Does she know what the Chip and Dale show is?

Mom: I don’t think we will go to Chip and Dale but Dad loved Jill and Gale! Which we saw last night

Dad: Yes she knows what Chip and Dale is. Chip and Dale is for locals. We are going to Thunder Down Under.

Me: Oooh. That’s even better. I support that. Tell Bob it will substitute for the sex education class she refused to attend in elementary.

Dad: Last night just walking on the strip was education enough. Kenzie said she does not regret her decision about sex ed.

Me: How did she handle the strip? It makes me uncomfortable and she’s’ 100% more innocent than me.

Dad: She was very uncomfortable. There were two men in very small pink underwear with Cupid bows that weirded me out! She took a picture of them.

Me: She did? She’s getting too grown up. Remember in Wendover how she’d just cry and refuse to go in the casino? And now she’s photographing almost nude men.

Bob: I wanted a reminder of why I should stay in school. I don’t want to end up like those guys!

Me: You really should have gone to your sex education class. You can’t end up like those guys. Not without major surgery.

Bob: Skipping that class was the smartest thing I ever did.

Me: Not when you think ditching school will turn you into a slutty man.

Bob: I couldn’t turn into a man but I could turn into a street bum with no pride.

Oh I love that little girl!

Love,
Brittney

My Urdu Vernacular

While in Pakistan, here is a list of words I got pretty proficient at. Probably pretty pathetic for what I should have picked up, but considering I knew no (Ok, I knew some, but not much. I’ll include words I previously knew here as well anyways. I should probably include the stories around some of those words here at some point) Urdu when I left, and everyone I interacted with knew English, I guess it isn’t too bad. Keep in mind most these words are my own spelling from what I was hearing, so the spelling could be pretty off.

My vocab very well sums my trip: family, food and animals. We met family, talked and ate copious amounts of food, and occasionally had creepy crawly visitors. We danced a ton (hence the song titles), and had our cups taken out from under us by the maid, hence learning to say “leave it”.
