Bachelorette Party

Samar threw me the best bachelorette party. I am so grateful for her for all the time she spent on making it amazing. The decor was awesome. She also bought a bunch of stuff she made me wear the whole night - including the walk to dinner, during dinner, after dinner. I got lots of stares, points, and car honks.

(notice the enormous light up ring I got as well. No offense Trev, but this ring is way bigger than the one you got me, and lights up way more...)

You can't really tell because of the sash, but the shirt says "Bride" and the tiara has a veil.

My closest friends and sister and sister-in-laws were able to make it, with a few exceptions, so that was wonderful.

We walked to Blue Lemon, my favorite restaurant, and had dinner. Walked back to my apartment and opened presents, played games, had dessert, talked, etc.

Samar had this idea for a cool cake she wanted to get me for the party, and it was amazing... well, almost. The idea was amazing. The execution was almost there. But... not quite. When she went to pick it up, it was a DISASTER. This is after some major modifications.

The lady spelled my name wrong, so she had to redo that.

Notice my panties are way bigger than Trev's boxers... and the thing on top by Trev's pillow? That is a bra. It surely doesn't look like a bra.

The feet... none of us could get over the feet. It looks like I died. a slow and painful death, completely deflating my body. Samar said she and the cake lady coresponded back and forth like 8 or so emails, and had three phone calls. She asked all kinds of questions like what race we both are, sent boxer samples, etc.

Then this is the cake.

The beadspread looked awesome - that is what saved it.

In order for the bumps under the blanket to be people, we'd have to be highly disfigured.

Those are toothpicks holding the spray painted cardboard headboard together. Poking out the back.

Again with the non-Caucasian deformed feet.

We pulled up the bedspread to see what was underneath.

Green plops of... something. Gross.

The whole thing was hilarious.

And in case you wondered - we did try the cake. It was horrible. I'm not a food snob - but this was awful. AWFUL. It was stale, bland and the bedding may look nice, but it tasted awful. And you had to peel layers of green goop off to get to the cake.

So in case you are ever in the need for an erotic cake - do NOT go to madame and Steve's erotic bakery in Sugarhouse.

Brittney

"I'm home"

One of the things I have loved about Trevor from the beginning is he's protective of me. Not in a crazy wife-beater-controlling way, but in an adorable way.

Ever since we first started dating (over 8 months ago - crazy!) he'd always ask me to text him when I got home at night so he knew I was safe.

ADORABLE, right?

I admit, sometimes when I'm mad at him I won't on purpose... or sometimes I won't just to see if he notices. 9 times out of 10 he doesn't say anything until a couple of days later when he says, "text me when you get home - sometimes you forget." Then we argue about me forgetting vs not forgetting.

Last night he says, "text me when you get home" as he always does. Then he added, "you forget sometimes so don't forget, ok?" to which I say, "I don't forget." Because I don't ever forget. Sometimes I'm mad, sometimes I'm testing him. But I never forget. I told him I won't. He said I do sometimes, so just not to forget. It turned into a thing. I humorous thing, non-serious thing, but a thing.

So after over 8 months of "I'm home texts" I decided to take matters into my own hands, as we are almost to the point of no more "I'm home" texts.

HALLELUJAH!

Trevor: What door??

Britt: Front door. Bedroom door is still ajar

Trevor: So you are safe!? Woowoo! Goodnight, love you!

I can't wait until we are married and we don't have to drive home late at night, exhausted.

WOO WOO!

(Also, I think his response shows that I do stuff like this way too often, as he does't even react to my charades anymore. Also - I think I'm funny. And clever.)

Employed!

Trevor got a job!!!

I cannot begin to explain how much this helps us, how much stress it relieves. Getting married is scary as it is, but then you add financial uncertainty on all the stress and it’s been a load to carry.

Every minute of our after work hours (he has an internship that ends at the end of this month) is consumed by wedding stuff. I’ve never been so exhausted in my life. He has little time until the wedding to apply, and none of the leads from the past have gone through.

He applied for a job at his current company, in a different department, and was offered the job yesterday.

He told me and I started crying, I felt so happy and relieved and so GRATEFUL.

I know Heavenly Father was in the details here. I have no doubt this was a blessing from Him. I can’t express how grateful I am!

June and Jer brought over some amazing mango bubbly for us to celebrate!

Everything with the wedding is coming together, now this... what a tender mercy so close to the wedding to have financial security.

Brittney

Guilty Apologizing

Trev - I am an apologetic person....I am currently trying to not apologize for apologizing....

Britt - Haha I'm a guilty person. Between my guilt and your apologies we're doomed

Trev - Oh great! Time for me to fix my apologetic nature!

Britt - Ok let's practice.

YOU HAVENT TOLD ME WHO THE HUG IS FROM AND I KNOW I GUESSED IT RIGHT BUT YOU WON'T TELL ME! I'M MAD!

Trev - WELL, SORRY TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE BUT YOU ARE WRONG!!!

Britt -  YEAH!!! Good job, baby!

Trev - Yeah! We are so tough!

Cold Feet

I've been nervous since we got engaged, stressing about everything and driving myself and Trevor nuts.

I've been trying to stress less and go forward with faith, and have been doing much better.

Until Saturday.

I woke up with cold, cold feet.

It was one of those no good, awful, horrible, days.

I've been trying to shake the cold feet since then. I talked to Trev about it, and he's always so understanding and amazing... "If you focus on the negative, of course you'll be scared and your fears will come true. But if you focus on the positive things you'll be so much happier and won't feel so scared." Then we listed all the things we are excited for, about getting married.

The subject kind of came up again today in texting, and he told me,

"We are going to be great baby! No matter what happens we will work things out together and with the Lord! Things seem scary now but when we face them together we can conquer anything. I know that is true! I am nervous but I am much less nervous knowing you will be by my side!

And I know you have been under a lot of stress. I stress too just a lot less. Don't forget that I have many of the same feelings you have but I am able to take them on more calmly. It doesn't mean I don't feel them. I will do anything you need, but you have to tell me!

I think we are missing some spirituality in our lives and need to make it a priority again. I will do my duty and take lead on that so we can feel more at peace!"

That helped my cold feet, warmed them right up... how grateful I am to be marrying a man who makes sure to incorporate the Savior in our relationship. We cannot fail if we are doing that. And I appreciate so much how he is always so willing and ready to take the lead in every aspect of our relationship. He takes his role as the Priesthood holder seriously, and that means so much to me.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still FREAKING OUT. But, I'm doing better.

PS - 13 days

First Apartment!

We signed our lease! We are officially apartment renters!

Trevor took pictures of the apartment but they aren't very good (sorry babe) so I am not posting them. I'll take some better ones when it's furnished/decorated.

Here are the highlights:

Recently renovated (we are the first to live here after the renovation)

Top floor (no footsteps above, crying babies, karaoke - which I currently enjoy 24/7)

Vaulted ceilings

Big balcony

Fire place

2 bedrooms

Master bedroom is big - and the closet is enormous. Seriously, huge. Can fit all my stuff and Trevors'

Secondary bedroom also has a walk in closet. This is also being referred to as Bob's room - can't wait for her to come!

Complex has a pool, hot tub, basketball court, tennis courts and my favorite- RACQUETBALL COURT!!!!!

It is in an awesome area (Cottonwood Heights) - right off the freeway - will cut 10 mins off my commute, right by a Whole Foods (my favorite grocery store) and Blue Lemon (my favorite restaurant) not to mention a ton of other stores/restaurants. We can walk to the grocery store. I'm sure Trevor can't wait for that.

Down side - we don't own anything. Nor do I particularly want to go spend money furnishing it. Especially since we are still unsure of Trevor's job/where we will end up. For now, we are signing a 6 month lease.

I plan to frequent garage sells looking for awesome and cheap finds. We need a table/chairs and a couch the most. Trevor has a bed - everythign else I can live without for a while at least.

The couch I will buy, however. I'm not ok with a garage sell couch. You have no idea what has happened on that couch and by who.

Trevor will start moving in right away. I'll start moving my stuff slowly. We will hopefully be all moved in by the wedding, so after we will come home to a nice apartment, all of our own!

While I'm ecstatic about the third floor - the only time I am less than thrilled is when it come to moving... I started picturing the pain of hauling furniture up there, and then I remembered I am getting married and Trevor and his brothers will do the heavy lifting... yeah, I like this married thing already!

Dirty Dash

Sachi and I did the Dirty Dash last year with some friends, and also the Kiss Me Dirty.

SO MUCH FUN.

We did it again this year, adding Trevor. It was so much fun. I think mud runs are one of my favorite things ever. Only missing thing is Bob doing it with us.

First presents!

We got our first present! Had to take pictures.

Went to Trevor’s house after and our second present had come to his house. That is our first 2 presents in the same day. And we haven’t received any since, so what a coincidence.

Getting married is fun!
