Interior Decorating

I came into the living room today, and saw this hung on the wall:

It's a shoe horn.

Trevor was in dire need of adult man shoes. Let me list his shoes:

1 pair of basketball shoes
1 pair of everything else sneakers
1 pair of Keens (water/hiking sandals) which I bought him for our honeymoon
1 pair of sandals (also bought for our honeymoon)
1 pair of "church/dressy" shoes

Ok. The "church/dressy" shoes were purchased for his mission. He got two pairs. They are boot style, as he served in the freezing cold Manitoba and Saskatchewan Canada mission. The first he wore through after 1.5 years on his mission. The second pair he wore the last 6 months of his mission and for the last 4 years.

They are worn. They are gross. They are unattractive. And these are his church and his work shoes. He wears these with his suits to dress up.

They do not make a good impression.

On Fridays at work, he can dress casually - and he wears his dirty sneakers, because he has nothing else to wear.

For our engagement pictures, he was wearing said dirty sneakers.

I told him he needs a pair of dressy suit shoes, and a pair of nicer shoes to wear with jeans/to work.

We went shoe shopping, and they used a shoe horn to get his massive shoes on him.

He fell in love.

He went on about how cool the shoe horn was.

Then at checkout, he looked at me with his wide eyes and asked if we could buy a shoe horn.

I figured it wasn't the worst use of $5 we have ever spent.

Yesterday, he put a nail in the wall and hung the shoe horn above our shoe rack. In our living room.

I laughed so hard. Who does that? Hangs a shoe horn up in the living room?

Apparently Trevor.

We are classy here at the Schauerhamer home.

Love,
Brittney
