3 Month Anniversary

Today is our 3 month anniversary.

WOW.

Also this month, we hit our one year mark of being together.

Also WOW.

It feels like we’ve been married a lot longer than 3 months. We’ve done so much in the last 3 months (we are honestly too busy sometimes) it makes it feel longer.

Our 3rd month together has been pretty spectacular. Seriously. It gets better each month thus far. We’re starting to fall more into a rhythm, and it is nice.

For dinner on Sunday, Trevor cooked the most amazing hamburgers and made coleslaw and potato salad. It took him 4 hours. And it was all AMAZING.

Yesterday (this is the first time this has ever happened) I got to work, the gas light in Tim turned on, and I had forgotten my wallet at home. I tried to pay with a check but you have to have your ID. Which was in my wallet.

I was unsure I’d be able to make it home on empty, and Trevor told me he’d come get me, bring me gas, meet me at a gas station, whatever I wanted. I ended up getting home fine, but it’s so nice to know that if an emergency happens, he will happily rescue me.

I love him much more now than I did when we got married.

I love celebrating… I’ll celebrate anything. So we’re celebrating each month, and then after a year we’ll keep it to every year. But it’s fun to celebrate each month up to a year! And we are also celebrating our 1 year dating anniversary this month. We’re going to go to Frightmares on our 1 year date anniversary, which we went to Frightmares on our first date.

Here’s to a month of celebrating us!

Love,
Brittney

Sneak Peak - Wedding Pictures

We got 4 wedding pictures back! I cannot wait to get the rest!

I LOVE THEM!

I cannot stop staring at them.

I think this one (the bridge one) is my favorite of the 4 - although they are all so amazing, and we are so utterly good looking, it is hard to pick a favorite.

I love it because we are looking at each other with so much love... there was so much love in that photo.

When we took our engagements I felt so awkward and unnatural... and you can tell in most the photos. It was fun, but I was so out of my element.

In our wedding photos though? I was so in love with Trevor, so happy, so excited to marry my best friend, it felt so easy and natural. We couldn't stop looking at each other (so cheesssyyyy, sorry!) and the photographer just took pictures of us gushing over "you look so beautiful" "no YOU look so handsome" interspersed with kissing.

Seriously, I couldn't stop looking at how completely handsome he looked in that tux, and his blue/silver/wire boutonniere is the best looking boutonniere I have ever seen.

I had a breakdown earlier in the day - taking these pictures was really "it" in my mind... after this, it was final - we were getting married... all day long I was a mess.

And then we met at temple square, took pictures of him seeing me for the first time, and after that all my fears were gone.

I couldn't stop looking at him, I wanted him to hold me tighter and kiss me longer...

I don't photograph well, but I love each of these photos, and I think it's because I was just so happy and in love.

I never want to forget how magical this day was. How I felt , in my wedding dress, with Trevor in his tux looking so handsome and being so filled with love and excitement and the knowledge that he is man I want. For forever and ever...

This is one of my favorite pictures from the whole night as well - I wish we'd had the photographer take one instead of just a cell phone picture. My dress was seriously enormous when I sat down. Fitting me in the car with Trevor was nearly impossible (also you can see his boutonniere better in this one).

10 Month Aniversary

10 months!
I can’t believe Trevor has only been in my life for 10 months, it feels like so much longer than that (not in a dragging, mundane way, but just in an – I can’t believe you ever weren’t in my life way).
It’s been a pretty phenomenal 10 months.
Trevor is so good to me and for me.
I’m constantly amazed at how humble he is, how willing he is to work on himself and us. If I get upset about something, he’s so willing to listen and understand what I’m saying and why I’m feeling the way I am. And then he’s so willing to change whatever it is that needs to be changed.
That’s all I can really ask for in a husband. Neither of us will ever be perfect – but knowing that he is always willing to try harder for me, to be better for me, is so amazing.
He’s truly the best man I’ve ever met.
So here are the highlights from each month we’ve been together thus far. It’s a pretty sad list – but it’s the best I’m doing right now.

Honeymoon - Traveling and Day 1ish

Our flight left at 6am on Thursday, July 18. Which means we needed to be up at 3, out the door by 4. Not to mention we’d been to bed at past 1 the night before. That part of the honeymoon sucked.

We flew to Dallas on one of those toy sized planes. I notice they are small every time I board one - with the 2 small seats, aisle and another 2 seats. The smallness of the plane takes on whole new meaning when you're traveling with a giant. Trev's knees were jammed against the seat in front of him. The chair in front couldn’t recline at all. The head rest was to his shoulders, so he couldn’t lean his head back at all. He can sleep anywhere, and he did fall asleep – but in really awkward positions. When we deplaned in Dallas for a short layover, he was in a lot of pain (he already has back problems, so this was really not good for him).

We will be going home to Saudi in December, and that trip will be way more intense than this measly 2.5 hour flight to Texas, so I suggested maybe a neck pillow would help him.

This was his favorite:

We then flew on an equally small plane to Baltimore where my amazing cousin Anna and her three wild boys picked us up. She wasn’t able to make it to the wedding, so it was so fun to spend time with her and for her to meet Trevor. Plus, if she’d come to the wedding I wouldn’t have been able to spend much time with her, but staying with her for a night I got lots of cousin catch up time.

It was so fun to talk about Grandma and Grandpa and family memories, to catch up with her life and see her house and to get to know her boys better.

Trevor was so darn cute with those boys. He loves babies and little kids, which is so freaking adorable. He played trains with them, played ipad games with them… held their hands through the grocery store…

Here is Duncan wearing Trevor's shoes. It is safe to say he will never grow into them.

That night we played the wii with Anna and Grant, which was hysterical and fun. Dancing games are awesome. Nothing like adults pulling the couch into the kitchen to have more dancing space.

The next day we went and saw the Washington DC temple, which is beautiful!! Then Anna took us to the Baltimore docks, where we boarded the Grandeur of The Seas!

When we got to our door, we found this!

Which we left up the entire time, because Trevor said we should.

Every time the room people saw us or we left/came to the room, they'd always smile and say "having fun!?" and wink at Trevor or something. It made going into the room awkward. Every.Single.Time.

Plus people would just tell us congrats when they'd see us in the hall, or I even heard people yell "CONGRATULATIONS" while passing our door.

A couple people saw us coming one day, and said every time they passed our door they wanted to knock and yell just in case, but decided against it...

While embarrassing, it did make for more entertainment and memories.

Inside we found all this:

Which we also left up the entire cruise. Even though Trevor hit his head on all the decorations. It was worth it.

We walked around the ship, sat on the deck...

Went to their opening show:

Ate fresh sushi!

(One of my biggest complaints against Trevor is he didn't like sushi. Well, I've turned him! He now likes it! YES! I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

The sushi was not only amazing, but the fish was so fresh.

This is the Centrum, the main area of the ship.

And we found swans on our bed when we came back.

Not gunna lie, awesome day. Honeymoons are basically the best thing ever.

Love,
Brittney (and Trevor)

Dick's Blue Balls

We are at Sunday dinner yesterday with my Grandparents, parents and brother.

Since getting married, we’ve had dirtier minds than ever before… I think it’s a phase. I hope it’s a phase, because I feel somewhat akin to a teenage boy right now.

Dad: So have you guys played racquetball yet?

Britt: No, not yet. Trev’s afraid of getting beat by me.

Trev: We bought me a racquet any everything. We just need to play.

Dad: Did you get balls?

Britt: Yeah, we got balls as well

Dad: What color balls did you get?

Britt: We bought blue balls

*Trev and I both start laughing inside at this point, composing ourselves as best we can*

Dad: They have other color balls, why did you get blue balls? They have red, green, purple balls

*We are less composed now*

Trev: We went to Dicks. Dicks only has blue balls

HAHAHA. I lost it at that point, totally and completely lost it. Trevor was trying to hold it together, but was struggling as well.

I text him from across the table: “Dicks has blue balls”

He texts back, “I may be embarrassed that I laughed at that in front of your dad….”

Just another family dinner at the Johnson’s.

Love,

Brittney

Humble Beginnings and Boxes

This is our living room.

This is a pile of presents almost as tall as Trevor.

This is our table (and our delicious breakfast - made in our new pan and our new toaster. Complete with left over Bachelorette party napkins - which Trevor especially enjoyed).

You're supposed to start your marriage out with nothing, right?

Facebook - It's Official!

Nothing is official these days unless it's Facebook official.

It's kind of a right of passage, getting to change your name on Facebook. Why does that seem more legit than my Drivers License? Maybe I have a problem.

I wrote earlier about my struggles with changing my name. I've since gotten used to the idea, and I'm actually really excited that I am now Brittney Schauerhamer.

There are always parts in anyone's past they'd rather forget. Things done, mistakes made, the person you used to be, etc.

I get to be a different person now. I am no longer Brittney Johnson, I'm Brittney Schauerhamer. New people I meet will never associate me with my maiden name. Yeah, weird.

But, also liberating. I can be whoever I want to be. I get to leave the insecurities, mistakes, associations I have as Brittney Johnson and allow myself to become a better version of me, a newer version of me. I'm so excited.

When I look at my name, I know that there is an amazing man who loves me more than I can comprehend, who took me to the temple to be sealed to me for time and eternity. That we are a family.

Brittney

Bride and Groom

Trevor's family arranged for a hotel for us Monday night, and included some bubbly, champagne glasses, snacks and these Bride and Groom face mask things (I have no idea what they are called?) for us. Bad pictures, but they say Bride and Groom.

JUST MARRIED!

This is our getaway car!

Trevor wanted to take Tim (my beautiful RAV 4) to the reception, since he has pride and wanted to leave in a nice car.

I wanted to take Grass Stain to the reception, because it's already a piece of crap and some decorations wouldn't do much to it. I didn't want to potentially ruin Tim/have to clean him before work!

I won. I eventually brought Trevor over to my side, in that we drive Tim all the time, so it would make more sense to get Grass Stain all decorated instead of our main car.

The whole car was full of balloons, so we had to clear some out to make room for us. I didn't even get to read what the car said until the next day, as by the time we made it to the hotel it was dark outside.

Love the addition of, "drink a Redbull!"

As soon as I surveyed the car, I knew my siblings were not the masterminds behind the decor. Lets just say both my sisters' cars were much tamer than ours.

We still have no idea what the scribbled out part means. We asked Trevor's friend, and he said it's probably best we don't know. So we'll leave it at that.

Probably our favorite part of the car... haha!

View of Grass Stain from the hotel. It was so cute sitting outside by itself, all decorated.

We had to pick up Tim so we drove home separately - I took a picture of Trev and Grass Stain at a red light. Because they were adorable. And you rarely get to see your wedding car at a red light - you're usually in it.

When we got to our apartment, we discovered that Sachi, Brittany and Samar had decorated our door/bed.

Thanks, guys!

Those little hearts/kisses were a pain to remove! I'm still finding them random places...

Love,
Brittney
